Each of the 45 checks reads one part of the page. A finding names the check that caught it and the rule it broke, and points to the element where the check can name one.
It reads the page you ship
The engine fetches the HTML your server sends and the stylesheets it links, and reads markup, tokens, type, spacing and motion from them. It runs no JavaScript, so it grades what arrives over the wire.
It measures instead of guessing
Contrast is computed, never eyeballed. Line length, type scale, and target size are read from the CSS the page ships, each against a threshold the contract publishes.
Each finding pins to its element
A check that fails names itself and marks what it caught. Here v03 finds no focus-visible ring on the button, and v06 measures the muted text at 3.8 to 1.
One grade, with the evidence attached
Findings roll up into one score. A failing check caps it at 89.9, so with v03 failing the page grades B, and every result links back to the rule that produced it.

Coherence is how a site earns trust now.
When AI can generate any interface, trust goes to the sites that hold together: consistent type, coherent motion, a steady rhythm. The contract makes that coherence checkable: 42 of its 45 checks run on the HTML and CSS a page ships, 3 need a browser, and every verdict comes back with its reason.
- Taste codified. The contract encodes design judgment as tokens, motion, sound, takt, and cadence, so taste survives any tool, any team, and any AI that generates your UI.
- Verification as proof. 42 automated checks read what shipped: the page your server sends. Developers report that 42% of the code they commit is now AI-generated or assisted.1
- Anti-generic by design. Twelve anti-slop rules take up to 20 points off for recognisable template patterns, and seven craft signals add up to 8 back. Every rule and signal is published on the methodology page.
- Versioned in the open. Every contract change is versioned and dated, with the checks it touched and the reason for it, in the public changelog.
